"Hill Climb Run a professional ship..." "I just want to say how fantastic the students thought the morning was..." "The Staff have been buzzing since Thursday..." |
Due to the difference in level of training and experience between practice and qualifying expeditions we recognise the level of supervision necessary and supervise accordingly. Whilst on our practice expeditions participants will receive a high level of training on such elements as: navigation, map reading, camp craft, nutrition, safety procedures.
These aspects will be covered on the first full day of the course whilst on-site or at a local venue with one of our instructors, and also during the expedition. We realise the importance of training and at the start of the expeditions the supervisors will stay with the groups to ensure they have a good understanding of the responsibilities of being part of a group led expedition. Once our staff are confident in the ability of the group, the supervision will become more remote with the expectation that the group will be completely self sufficient by the end of the expedition.
Qualifying expeditions must only be attended by people with appropriate prior training and have the skills necessary to undertake a self sufficient journey. The first full day of the course will be spent at local venues with a focus on practicing navigation techniques, whilst our staff can assess the level of training participants have and help to improve any necessary skills. We cover the expeditions with remote supervision aiming to keep a close eye on all participants for safety reasons, but not have any interaction with the group other than to check in at camp sites.
