Open Gold DofE Sea Kayaking Expedition and Residential UK and Thailand

Total package including UK based Training, Thailand based Residential and Qualifying Expedition £1250 (not including flight to Thailand).
The Koh Chang Marine National Park offers a stunning backdrop for our Residential and Qualifying Expedition. From our base we will explore secluded and unspoilt islands by sea kayak, camping on remote beaches or sleeping in traditional rustic bungalows.
During the UK based practice we will impart the necessary skills and training up to BCU 3 star sea kayak standard, assessment for this will be during the expedition dates in Thailand. We will be camping on local campsites on the island, undertaking journeys and skills-based sessions.
The Residential Phase will be Community focussed . This will be the first week of the trip and you will have the opportunity to volunteer at a number of different organisations including a local Cambodian School or an Animal Sanctuary on the island, We will also be undertaking clean-up sessions and litter picking on local beaches and islands.
The Expedition will take place in the second week and we will journey through the Koh Chang Marine National Park – stopping on local islands using a mix of wild camping and local bungalows. Skills covered include: navigation, safety, bush craft, organisation, consolidation of paddling technique.
