Introduction
This is a multi activity week based at our residential outdoor centre in East Lancashire, with part of the week taking place in the Lake District. This course is a true reflection of the residential aims, offering challenging activities around a residential base to a group of people from different backgrounds. There is a safe, friendly, warm and inviting atmosphere and all participants will be encouraged to build new relationships and develop communication skills.
The activities offered throughout the week will include Canoeing/ Kayaking, Ghyll scrambling, and on-site team challenges. These activity sessions will have an emphasis on skills development and learning, aiming to inspire participants to continue their development and for water based activities achieve a BCU qualification.

We offer a full residential package which includes:

  • Pick up service from Preston train station (subject to availability).
  • A wide range of activities offering a very diverse week which will develop skills in a number of disciplines.
  • Highly qualified instructors/ supervisors who will work with the participant to help them achieve their aims, whilst ensuring that the experience remains challenging. All our instructional staff have a wide breadth of knowledge about the subject areas they are involved in.
  • Shared accommodation. This will help participants to build relationships and develop as a team.

How our residentials comply with Duke of Edinburgh award considerations

  • All our residentials are a minimum of 5 days and 4 nights.
  • Our packages include a specific, shared course or activity. This will be coordinated both by us as an Approved Activity Provider.
  • The evening sessions are an integral part of our programmes. The participants will be taking part in activities together in order to enhance their shared experience.
  • Our packages will broaden the experiences of the participant, as they will be working and learning in a new environment. However, our programmes are not to be confused with a holiday. All our packages ensure that the participants are engaged in purposeful activities, such as undertaking a training course leading to a specific qualification, a course which develops skills or interests or volunteering.
  • All our residentials have a minimum of 5 people.
  • We encourage participants from different schools and backgrounds to attend our residentials. Ideally they should join individually.
  • We can provide specific training and briefings before the residential starts.
